About the Creator

I’m a queer, neurodivergent, Blerd who desperately seeks to understand humanity through the fantastical and horrific stories of marginalized peoples. And every now and then, you’ll see me in my rural, chill life, similar to Thanos after he succeeded: gardening, crafts, fashion, and a 65lb pittie who conveys just enough judgment in his eyes to shame your life choices.

I’ve curated panel programming for a book festival, moderated panels in both book and comic-specific spaces, published reviews on multiple online magazines, and interviewed authors, academics, and creatives. I am also the co-host of The Pink Riot Comic Show live podcast! My goal is to help people love and appreciate speculative fiction as a tool for reimaging and reshaping our current reality into a more inclusive and healed world.

The Blerd Library started as a Bookstagram account in February 2021. It was born out of frustration:

  1. My family did not care about my excitement surrounding The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin and I was devastated. Who wouldn’t be excited about Black Earthbenders!!! I wanted friends and a community to talk about these things!!
  2. I wanted to return to school and earn my Master’s degree in Literature with a concentration in Black speculative fiction in books and indie comics. Having the account would hold me accountable for my learning as I waited for the opportunity to return to school.
  3. Wanted to talk about my current rural life, homestead, and interior design projects influenced by Black speculative literature.

The Blerd Library has been called several things in my time online: blackgirlinthesticks, keishasliterarylabyrinth, and now The Blerd Library. Every version of this account focused on the voices of marginalized people and used their brilliant stories as catalysts for individual, community, and world progress.
